7 Festive Christmas Activities for Kids

7 Festive Christmas Activities for Kids

Tis' the season to get festive! There’s nothing that puts us in the Christmas spirit like hot cocoa and holiday fun with our kiddos. These 7 Christmas activities for kids will truly make the season merry and bright for you and your little sugar plums. So hop into this sleigh-full of festive fun and ride through the wintry wonderland of fun activities.

1. Gingerbread Galore

Our first stop is a holiday classic: building gingerbread houses. This popular tradition began in 1800’s Germany and was inspired by the Grimms Brothers’ fairytale, Hansel and Gretel. You can continue this two-centuries-old tradition right in your kitchen. Not only is the sweet aroma of gingerbread wafting through the kitchen a quintessential Christmas memory, but it's a delightful decorating adventure for your little bakers.

To skip the baking and get straight to the fun, you can always buy pre-made gingerbread house kits. This is, by far, the easiest option. But if you want to start from scratch, gather your little helpers to create a homemade gingerbread house

2. Handmade Ornaments

Add a personal touch to your Christmas tree with handmade ornaments. Set up a crafting station with a variety of colorful ribbons, glitter, construction paper, and other crafting supplies you have on hand. Whether it's paper snowflakes, handprint angels, or popsicle stick reindeer, these DIY creations will not only adorn your tree but also become cherished keepsakes for years to come.

Since Santa’s helpers will be hard at work, don’t forget to have cookies, eggnog, hot cocoa, and Christmas music playing in the background. It’ll give your little elves the Christmas spirit they need to create beautiful ornaments.

3. Movie Night Magic

The holidays wouldn’t be the same without our favorite Christmas movies. A festive movie marathon snuggled up on the couch with our kiddos is the perfect way to get in the spirit. Classics like "The Polar Express" and "Elf" never fail to captivate, while "Frozen" and "The Grinch" are other kid favorites to include.

But don’t feel like you have to stick to the classics. New Christmas movies come out every year. Maybe this is the year you add a new addition to your family’s favorites. And like any other movie night, don't forget the popcorn!

4. Winter Wonderland Scavenger Hunt

Turn your home into a snowy spectacle with an indoor scavenger hunt. Hide holiday-themed items around your home such as pine cones, candy canes, and paper snowflakes. Once your kids find them all, reward them with a batch of healthy holiday cookies and hot chocolate.

Have a 4-legged family member? Get them in on the fun! Hide treats throughout your home and have your kiddos help their furry best friends find them.

Lastly, if it’s not too cold and the sun is shining, consider taking your scavenger hunt outdoors. Your kids will have more room to run and play while soaking up the sun rays. This will increase exercise and Vitamin D, two ways to boost immunity during the winter!

5. Letters to Santa

There’s nothing that gets kids as excited as writing to Santa. Turn their Christmas wish list into a yearly tradition with a festive writing station. Provide your little wordsmiths with colored pencils, markers, festive paper, scissors, and glue to jazz up their Christmas wish list.

You can also take this time to make homemade Christmas cards for the family. They make great gifts for grandparents, aunts, uncles, and family friends!

6. Christmas Carol Karaoke

Transform your living room into a stage and let the holiday tunes fill the air. Host a Christmas carol karaoke night where everyone can belt out their favorite festive tunes. It's a joyous way to bring the family together while creating a musical medley of seasonal cheer.

For an extra dose of holiday magic, combine Christmas Carol Karaoke Night with a Holiday Costume Contest! Dress your kiddos up as elves, reindeer, miniature Santas, or any of their favorite holiday characters for a holiday night to remember.

7. Wondrous Wreath Making

Add a seasonal touch to your home with Christmas Wreaths. With a little DIY and a whole lot of imagination, your little ones can help transform your home into a festive haven. Gather an assortment of greenery, pinecones, and ribbons to let your kiddos explore the world of wreath crafting.

Whether you opt for a classic evergreen wreath or get creative, this activity enhances your holiday decor with the help of your little artists. It weaves together creativity and tradition, making it the perfect Christmas activity for kids!

Merry Christmas!

The holiday hustle can take a toll on busy parents. But with these activities, you can slow down, savor the moment, and create lasting memories with your little ones. So, slip into your comfiest holiday jammies, grab a cup of cocoa, and let the magic of Christmas unfold.

From everyone at Renzo’s Vitamins, we wish you a Merry Christmas!
